The Ambient came into our workshop and got stuck into a comprehensive program of works to keep her running at her best. We started with a full annual service on both Volvo D12 main engines and the Onan generator, draining and replacing all oils, filters, impellers, anodes, and belts while also overhauling the heat exchanger, replacing both engine wiring loom harnesses, and servicing the Honda tender outboard. Shortly after, we responded to a breakdown at anchor when the port engine starter motor failed, recovering the vessel on one engine, rebuilding the starter, and then returning to carry out further plumbing works including a new freshwater manifold system and NMEA gateway replacement. We then hauled her out of the water for a full antifoul application using JOTUN Seavictor 50 with Jotun Vinygaurd primer, a complete Propspeed treatment across both propellers, shafts, rudders and P-brackets, and a full set of new zinc anodes. During the haul-out we also replaced two through-hull skin fittings, installed four new underwater lights and a targa light, carried out a full injector service on both D12 engines discovering that the port-side injectors had sustained water damage and were over-fuelling and completed the annual tender service. A routine inspection visit in between identified a number of items for attention including minor oil leaks, corroding connections, and audio faults, all of which were addressed in the subsequent works.
